Limiting Reinforcement Ratios for Hybrid GFRP/Steel Reinforced Concrete Beams

In this work, a theoretical approach is proposed for estimating the minimum and maximum reinforcement ratios hybrid glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP)/steel-reinforced concrete beams to prevent sudden brittle failure as well compression of before tension reinforcements. Equilibrium equations were used develop method determining GFRP/steel ratio. A ratio was also developed based on equilibrium forces balanced mode. For load-carrying capacity with GFRP/steel, less than more recommended. Comparisons between expressions, experimental data, available test results in literature shows good agreement discrepancy 7%.
